Inertia

Arrgh, don't feel like going to camp. I'm having home-inertia. I wish there were no camp and just normal school. I don't see what's so nice about going to camp in Malaysia. I don't like the school to arrange camps for us (which they do every year) because I keep getting forced to go. And then when I'm forced to go, the school doesn't take care of me.

I can take care of myself if they let me stay at home. :((((

It's not that I'm some hermit or couch potato or something. If it were a trip to Russia or something and NOT a camp, I'd be good to go. (Speaking of which, I will be going to Russia with my family soon.) Even if it were a SCHOOL trip, I'd go. (School trip here is defined as a trip organised by the school, but a trip that is no different from what you get in a tour package thingy, except plus the homework.)

But oh no, it's a school camp. It's very different from just going on a tour package and doing your homework about it after that. Here, you have to do homework DURING the trip, on the coach maybe. It has been said that the coach ride is 7 hours and we have lots of time to do what we have to do. But it has not been considered that the coach is shaky and bumpy and some people may vomit and we won't get nowhere at all in terms of doing homework.

They said that facilitation time would be given (for us to do our work). Hello, when we are all so tired and everything? It was already stated that we would be packed for the whole day. So why are we not getting more rest instead?

And we have a LOT of homework and projects that HAVE to be completed before we come back to school, one weekend after the trip.

I don't know what to do or say. I just hope I survive the week.

I feel on edge. I don't know why I hate camps so much. I can't help feel that if you run into trouble during the camp, the school won't take care of you. And your friends can't do much to help you. And there won't be your parents that to help you too. Strangely, I don't feel that way if it is a TRIP, even if it is with the school.

I think it is because of the many adventure camps I have gone to in the past. Tough. This is an art camp (thank heavens!) but I can't shake off the feeling. Just can't. I can't stand adventure camps you see.

It's like how you don't like it when you are thrown into an adventure, but you'd like it if you go adventure-seeking on your own.

I have been unlucky. There have been times when I have forgotten to take things or left things behind. But last year I was fortunate that my friend had brought an extra towel. I'd forgotten mine. If it hadn't been for her...Well, who knows what I would have done.

What I am clear about is, if I hadn't been so lucky as to know someone who had an extra towel, no one would help me. And I'm sure the teachers would have just looked pissed and said, "Why were you so careless" and pointless things like that. Then I'd probably have to wipe myself with my own shirt or something.

Another time I wasn't so lucky. It was both my sister and I, it was our first camp. We didn't bring extra shoes, so when we went to the beach our shoes got chock full of wet sand. We couldn't remove some of it, so we left it, because we thought during dinner that day we would wear our sandals. But oh no, to our horrors, there was some retarded decree saying that everyone should come to the canteen in SHOES.

Man. What blisters we did get. And the camp packing list said "one pair of shoes". Luckily (Okay, we were lucky again) we called our parents to get us shoes (wearable ones).

Those that didn't get aid got huge blisters. It was Plasterdom for our camp leaders.

On the whole I dislike the rushiness of camps. There's no time for anything and you have to rush everything-three minute shower, five minute meal, one minute to run like a stampeding horde of buffaloes to your campsite to fetch your gear, and run back again, at the risk of being trampled, two minutes to save your tent from the rain (without avail), and of course a teeny weeny few hours of sleep.

Late to bed, early to rise, hurry up and eat your rice. Don't drag your feet when you run, and be sure to have your fun...Not to forget you have only three minutes for a bath. And oh look, your tent just had one. LOL.

The day our tent got rained upon, I slept next to a puddle of water. It was weird.

Seriously weird. Not that I'm complainin', it's not like I slept IN the puddle.
